Hey !

Welcome to the Crandall Haus blog. It’s been a crazy whirlwind of a few months as I worked through navigating opening my own business. I’m still learning everyday but I have gotten into a groove and am doing the damn thang.

I had all the intentions of starting this blog in the summer, but here we are in October!

I want to use this space to talk about all different aspects of design, my design style, styling, (maybe a few DYI if I get better at it) etc. but of course I will be featuring room revels that I have been working on, because my main focus is still transforming spacing into amazing ones.

So Let’s talk about a fun new project I’m starting, TODAY! I’ve decided to join along as a guest participant in the one room challenge. www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog

The room I’m going to tackle is our dining room. This room has been bothering me since we closed. We have an eating area in the kitchen, though small, I thought it would suffice and did not want to add another dining area. We tried to layout the front room as my office, sitting room and a movie room. None of these options really worked because of large doorway openings and oddly placed windows. It’s currently housing an old sofa, random art and client boxes.

Everything we put in this room seemed out of place or off-centered. I am now embracing the off centeredness ( is that a word ) of this room and turning it into a dining area where we can entertain our friends. The main goal is us wanting to use the space, it will make our downstairs feel much bigger having another area to escape to.

Here is the current space …

And here is my design plan! I want the room to feel fun and fresh. The hope for the space, like I said, is for us to actually use it whether it’s just us having coffee or entertaining our friends. I didn’t want to do anything formal or too serious.. take a look!
