Good morning all !
I love the way this room came together. Before this killer floral wallpaper was on the back wall there was a cute navy and green wallpaper left over from big brothers room. We swiftly primed over that and converted the room into the perfect spot for his sister to come home to. You don’t always need to strip down existing wallpaper if you want to do something different. If the seams of the paper are still laying flat and are in good shape you can have a painter mud over the seams and prime right over the top.
I wanted to create a little different color palette for this nursery, don’t get me wrong I love a blush nursery but I felt like we needed a bigger pop on this wall since the room is little bit on the smaller side. When I came across this will paper with the burnt orange, red and blush mix I was obsessed. I still wanted to add another color into the mix, and thought a cool blue would compliment it and be little bit of a unique color combo. I came across the perfect rug that helped mix all these colors together and voila. Here is how the design came together..

We kept the same layout as it was before, the room has a good closet so we didn’t need to worry about too much additional storage besides a dresser. The walls were originally grey but I wanted the entire room to be bright and white, with a pop of color on the ceiling (Ben Moore : Rose accent 1177) Beside the wallpaper everything else in the room was kept pretty light and subtle..Take a look !

The open shelving added some height to the room as well as some flex storage space. It’s great for books, bins, and putting things out of reach for little ones when they can start moving around. I always tell me clients when deciding on which room to use for the nursery, go with the smaller option. There’s a few reasons for that, one being you need less. The standard layout for a totally functional nursery is crib, dresser/changing table and rocker.. that’s all you need!

We chose to go a bit darker in boys room. We painted the walls a denim blue (Ben Moore: Kensington blue 840) and created a shiplap barn wood accent wall. We beat-up some rough sawed wood and applied a grey water based stain. We then white washed it with a few layers in different areas. When it’s time to swap out the crib for a bed, he will be all set!

That’s all for now ..
